Stats
Bio
Recruited from South Caulfield CYMS after serving with the RAAF during World War II, Kevin O'Donnell was a serviceable half-forward for St Kilda in the immediate post-war era. He made an instant impression upon his debut in 1946, booting two goals against North Melbourne and quickly cementing his place in the senior side as a consistent flanker. Over four seasons at the Junction Oval, he played 49 games before departing the VFL to pursue a coaching career in the Murray Football League with Deniliquin. While his own tenure at the top level was brief, his legacy at the Saints extended through his family; he is best remembered today as the father of dual-sport athlete Simon O'Donnell, who played for St Kilda before a successful cricket career, and the grandfather of current Western Bulldogs player James O'Donnell.
