Bio
Recruited from the Victoria Brewery football team, Kevin Phillips was a unique industrial league discovery who played a fleeting but efficient cameo for Collingwood in the early 1950s. After spending the 1951 season honing his craft in the reserves, the lightly framed centre half-forward earned his senior elevation late in the 1952 season. He made an immediate impact on debut in Round 16 against St Kilda, slotting two goals in a comfortable win, and backed it up with another major against arch-rivals Carlton the following week. Despite demonstrating a natural eye for goal by scoring in both of his VFL appearances, Phillips did not feature again for the Magpies, leaving the game with the rare distinction of having hit the scoreboard in every match of his brief career at Victoria Park.
