Bio
Kevin Roberts, affectionately known as "Noofa," arrived at St Kilda from the Cheltenham Football Club, where he had won a Federal League Best and Fairest as a fullback. Upon entering the VFL, however, the left-footer was transformed into a damaging half-forward flanker. He became a key component of the Saints' attack in the mid-1960s, often playing alongside legend Darrel Baldock and using his long kicking to break open games. Roberts featured in the club's heartbreaking 1965 Grand Final loss to Essendon, a match where he curiously wore the number 24 guernsey instead of his customary number 23.
His career is often defined by a cruel twist of fate during St Kilda’s historic 1966 premiership season. Roberts was in career-best form early in the year, booting 17 goals in the opening rounds, before a broken collarbone sustained in Round 12 prematurely ended his campaign. The injury forced him to watch from the sidelines as his teammates secured the club’s first and only flag. After leaving the Saints in 1969 to play for Oakleigh in the VFA, Roberts eventually returned to Moorabbin in an off-field capacity, serving as a runner and a development officer who helped mentor young recruits, including future superstar Tony Lockett.
