Teams

Recruited from Happy Valley Rovers, Kevin Smith established himself as a dangerous goal-kicking rover during his five seasons at North Melbourne. Standing at just 169cm, the diminutive playmaker was a sharp operator around the packs who averaged better than a goal a game during his time at Arden Street. He crossed to Footscray during the 1955 season, where he became part of a rare footballing quirk by playing alongside a teammate with the exact same name, Kevin J. Smith. While his stint at the Western Oval was brief, restricted to seven games over two years, his ability to hit the scoreboard remained evident until he departed the VFL scene at the end of 1956.
