Bio
A product of the Giants Academy, Kieren Briggs was secured with pick 34 in the 2018 National Draft after crossing codes from a rugby background in his late teens. For several seasons, he bided his time on the fringe of selection, often stuck behind veteran Shane Mumford or rotating with fellow developing rucks while fighting for consistency and fitness. His career trajectory shifted dramatically in 2023 when he seized the number one ruck mantle, establishing himself as one of the most physically imposing stoppage players in the competition. Briggs is best known for his aggressive follow-up work at ground level, using his heavy frame to win clearances and lay punishing tackles in a manner reminiscent of an extra midfielder rather than a traditional tall. Having solidified his place in the Giants' best 22, he has become a crucial structural component of the GWS engine room, providing the physical edge required to service the club's midfield unit.
