Klay Nicholls

Klay Nicholls is a general defender who emerged from the Portland Football Netball Club to become a reliable rebounding force for the GWV Rebels. Representing Vic Country at the Under-18 National Championships, Nicholls thrived across half back, producing a standout performance against South Australia where he racked up intercept possessions and showed off his polish and efficiency. His consistent form at both representative and Coates Talent League level earned him an invitation to the state draft combine.

Standing at 186cm, Nicholls often plays taller than his height to impact aerial contests in defence. Scouts have praised his ability to read the flight of the ball beautifully and settle into smart positions to cut off opposition attacks. Once he wins the footy, he is not afraid to occupy a high line and drive the ball into dangerous areas with quick counterattacks. He is also a willing tackler who consistently puts his body on the line for his team. With a proven ability to dictate play from the defensive 50, Nicholls shapes as a potential late or rookie selection for clubs seeking a versatile half back.
