Bio
Born in Sweden, a rarity for the league, Kris Massie arrived at Carlton as a highly touted top-ten draft pick from the Dandenong Stingrays. He experienced the highs of senior football early, representing the Blues in the 1999 Grand Final as a teenager, but struggled to consistently justify his high draft status at Princes Park. Seeking a fresh start after four seasons, he was traded to Adelaide ahead of the 2002 season, where he reinvented himself as a disciplined defensive utility capable of playing on opponents often taller or faster than himself.
At West Lakes, Massie became a reliable contributor known for his sacrifice and tactical adherence. He was frequently deployed in run-with roles against dangerous medium forwards or used as a loose man in defence, where his composure and neat disposal efficiency helped set up play from the back half. Although he often faced the difficult task of curbing the competition's most dynamic forwards, Massie was a dedicated servant who played 130 senior games through perseverance and defensive versatility before being delisted at the end of 2008.
