Bio
Recruited as a mature-age prospect from VFL club Werribee, Kyle Hartigan was selected by Adelaide in the 2012 Rookie Draft to bolster their key defensive stocks. He carved out a respectable career as a disciplined lockdown defender, often tasked with nullifying the opposition's strongest key forward—a selfless role that frequently allowed All-Australian teammate Daniel Talia the freedom to intercept. Hartigan became a reliable mainstay of the Crows' backline during their competitive window under Don Pyke, notably holding down a key post in the 2017 Grand Final side.
Following the 2020 season, Hartigan moved to Hawthorn to add experience to a backline that had recently lost veterans James Frawley and Ben Stratton. He provided immediate structural support at Waverley Park, playing 19 games in his debut season in brown and gold. While he was never a high-possession winner, his ability to compete one-on-one and spoil effectively saw him notch 135 career games before he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
