Fantasy

Drafted by Geelong with a second-round selection in the 2017 National Draft, Lachie Fogarty entered the AFL system via the Western Jets with a reputation for clean hands and elite tackling intent. Despite flashing potential as a dynamic forward-midfielder at Kardinia Park, his three-season tenure was marred by persistent injuries and fierce competition for spots, leading him to request a trade to Carlton ahead of the 2021 season in search of greater opportunity. While his initial years at Princes Park were similarly interrupted by fitness setbacks, Fogarty eventually carved out a vital niche as a high-pressure small forward who prioritised defensive acts over personal scoreboard impact. Often acting as the connector between the midfield and deep forwards, he became known for his elite tackling pressure inside 50 and selfless work rate, establishing himself as a key structural role player for the Blues despite ongoing battles with durability.
