Bio
Hailing from the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles in the SANFL, Lachlan McNeil was overlooked in his initial draft year before forcing his way onto the Bulldogs' list via the 2020 Rookie Draft following a premiership campaign at state league level. He enjoyed a dream debut season in 2021, playing 23 games and cementing a spot in the side as a high-pressure small forward, a run that culminated in his selection as the unused medical substitute in the Grand Final loss to Melbourne. While rarely a prolific ball-winner or heavy goal-kicker, McNeil built his reputation on elite aerobic capacity and defensive discipline, often playing the thankless high half-forward role required to connect the midfield and attack. His career required resilience, evidenced when he was delisted and immediately re-rookied for list management purposes in late 2023, yet he remained a determined squad member who provided valuable depth and structural accountability whenever called upon.
