Bio
Lance Dobson was a Port Melbourne product who stepped up to North Melbourne during the Second World War. With the VFA competition suspended due to the conflict, he was one of many Association players to cross to the League to keep playing, earning his senior debut in 1943 after a previous stint in the club's reserves. Standing 173cm, Dobson was a compact utility capable of playing as a rover or on a flank, holding his place in the side for 21 games across two difficult wartime seasons. His career at Arden Street was ultimately a product of the era, and following the 1944 season, he left the club to return to Port Melbourne once the VFA resumed operations.
