Teams

Recruited from the Canterbury Methodists, Lance Morton was an imposing key position utility who used his 192cm frame to impact contests at both ends of the ground. He established himself at Hawthorn in the late 1960s, playing 36 games as a ruck-forward and defender during the club's ascent up the ladder, but departed at the end of 1970, missing the Hawks' breakthrough premiership the following season. Morton returned to the VFL in 1972 with South Melbourne, where he enjoyed a productive stint in attack, averaging nearly two goals a game and providing a strong marking target. He eventually moved to the SANFL with North Adelaide and later the VFA with Northcote, where he continued to prove his worth as a dangerous goal-kicker well into the late 1970s.
