Bio
Lance "Jack" Mounsey was a short-term reinforcement for Collingwood in 1912, recruited from the Telegraph workplace side to fill gaps left by unavailable stars. The nephew of Fitzroy champion Alec Sloan, he played four games as a forward in Jock McHale’s first season as coach, but failed to impact the scoreboard and soon drifted back to the Public Service competition. His true legacy emerged away from Victoria Park; Mounsey became a highly decorated war hero, earning a Distinguished Conduct Medal for maintaining communications under fire at Bullecourt, and later achieved prominence as an elite rower who represented Victoria in the King's Cup.
