Bio
Hailing from Scottsdale in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association, Lance Styles arrived at Princes Park as a capable ruckman who had already represented Tasmania at the 1972 Perth Carnival. Despite his representative credentials, he struggled to break into a formidable Carlton senior lineup, managing just three VFL appearances across two seasons while primarily playing in the reserves. After failing to secure a permanent spot in the Blues' 22, Styles moved west to play for Subiaco in the WAFL for the 1975 season before returning to Victoria to join Waverley. It was in the VFA that he played his best football, becoming a dominant figure for the Panthers and cementing his legacy by winning the Field Medal as the Division 2 Best and Fairest in 1978.
