Bio
Recruited from local club Parkside, Lance Watson was a strongly built tall utility who joined Fitzroy ahead of the 1950 VFL season. Standing 185cm and weighing 84kg, he possessed the physical dimensions of a key position player, allowing him to compete effectively in the air and hold his own in contested situations. He made his senior debut in Round 6 of 1950 and managed 10 games in his rookie year, settling into a defensive or relief ruck role where his height was an asset but scoring opportunities were rare. Watson remained on the senior list for three seasons, adding another 13 appearances to his tally, but struggled to cement a permanent place in the Maroons' lineup before his VFL career concluded at the end of 1952.
