Stats
Bio
Recruited from Colac in western Victoria, Larry Spokes arrived at South Melbourne as a mature-age recruit in the immediate post-war era, debuting in Round 1, 1946 at the age of 25. He quickly established himself as a reliable forward option for the Swans, booting 51 goals across his five seasons at the Lakeside Oval. While he never topped the club's goalkicking, Spokes was a consistent contributor who managed to hold his spot in the senior side during a lean period for the club following their 1945 Grand Final appearance. He remained a one-club player at VFL level, retiring from top-flight football after the 1950 season.
