Recruited by Adelaide with the seventh pick in the 2000 National Draft, Laurence Angwin was a highly touted prospect whose AFL career was ultimately defined by wasted potential rather than on-field achievement. A mobile ruck-forward with exceptional athleticism for his size, he failed to play a senior game during two years with the Crows before being delisted due to disciplinary issues. Angwin was thrown a lifeline by Carlton in the 2003 pre-season draft, where he finally debuted and showed glimpses of his aerial ability by booting six goals in four matches. However, his time at the elite level came to an abrupt end in early 2004 when he was sacked by the Blues following a theft incident involving a teammate, leaving him as a cautionary tale of talent failing to meet professional standards.
