Bio
Already a decorated champion with South Adelaide in the SANFL, Laurie Cahill arrived at Punt Road during the Second World War for one of the most impactful cameos in VFL history. The classy rover and wingman—who is the uncle of Port Adelaide coaching legend John Cahill—played just seven games for the Tigers, but his contribution was immense when it mattered most. Playing as a half-forward, he booted a team-high three goals in the hard-fought Preliminary Final victory over Fitzroy to help secure a grand final berth. A week later, he became a premiership player in his seventh and final game for the club, helping defeat Essendon in the 1943 decider before eventually returning to South Australia to continue his Hall of Fame career.
