Bio
Recruited from Mentone CYMS, Laurie O'Toole was a red-headed ruckman and forward who offered a formidable physical presence at 188cm. A distinct left-footer known for his strong overhead marking and work ethic, he broke into the Richmond senior side in the latter half of 1959 but struggled to hold a consistent spot in the lineup over his two seasons at Punt Road. While his VFL career was brief, O'Toole found his true footing after transferring to the VFA, where he became a club legend at Sandringham. He played a pivotal role in the Zebras' 1962 premiership triumph and was later selected in their Team of the Century, capping off his tenure as the club's leading goalkicker in 1966. O'Toole eventually moved to Canberra to play for Ainslie, where his experience was highly valued, leading to him captaining the ACT representative side in the late 1960s.
