Bio
A fringe forward during the VFL's pioneer era, Laurie Paul played a brief and fragmented role for Melbourne at the turn of the century. He made his debut in Round 3, 1899, showing immediate potential by booting two goals in his maiden appearance for the Redlegs. Despite this promising start, Paul was unable to cement a spot in the senior side, drifting out of the lineup and missing the club's breakthrough 1900 premiership campaign entirely. He eventually resurfaced three seasons later for a solitary game in 1902, but went goalless in his return and was delisted shortly after, finishing his career as a statistical curiosity with a respectable strike rate from his limited opportunities.
