Bio
Recruited from Welshpool in South Gippsland, Laurie Rippon was a towering ruckman who provided significant size and strength to the Footscray list during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Standing 193cm and weighing nearly 100kg, he was a massive physical presence for the era, using his frame to create contests at stoppages and support the first-choice followers. He played 45 senior games over five seasons at the Western Oval, often rotating into the side to cover injuries or provide structural depth in the ruck. Midway through the 1973 season, he obtained a clearance to the VFA, linking up with Prahran where he continued his career as a formidable ruckman in the second tier.
