Bio
Recruited from Edithvale-Aspendale, Laurie Sharp was a determined centreman who produced his best football in heavy conditions. A consistent ball-winner for Richmond, he overcame an early broken leg to claim the club's Best and Fairest award in 1956, a standout individual campaign in the midfield engine room. Sharp left Punt Road to play a season of country football with Wangaratta in 1958, but was lured back to the VFL the following year for a final stint with South Melbourne. He finished his playing days back at his junior club before his life was tragically cut short by a heart attack in 1974 at just 39 years of age.
