Bio
Recruited from the Colac-Coragulac Tigers fresh off their 1980 premiership, Lee Murnane was a livewire half-forward who made an immediate impression at Fitzroy. A crafty attacker capable of finding space in crowded forward lines, Murnane was a key component of Robert Walls' revitalised 1981 side, noted for his creative ball use and dangerous left-foot snap. His debut season proved to be his most significant, seeing him feature prominently in the club's return to September action where he kicked two goals in the agonizing one-point First Semi-Final loss to Collingwood. After four seasons and 51 games with the Lions, Murnane returned to the Colac district, eventually cementing his status as a local legend by leading Irrewillipe to a premiership in 1992.
