A testament to the value of persistence, Lee Spurr arrived at Fremantle as a mature-age recruit via the 2012 Rookie Draft after carving out a successful tenure with Central District in the SANFL. He quickly established himself as a courageous and reliable small defender, earning a reputation for putting his body on the line and executing disciplined roles within Ross Lyon's stingy defensive structures. While not the flashiest operator, Spurr's ability to read the play and intercept, combined with his neat disposal by foot, made him a mainstay in the Dockers' backline during their most successful era.

His consistency saw him elevated to the club's leadership group, and he played a pivotal role in Fremantle's march to the 2013 Grand Final. Spurr holds the distinction of being the first player drafted to the Dockers as a rookie to reach the 100-game milestone, a marker of his durability and importance to the side before recurring knee injuries forced his retirement at the end of the 2018 season.
