Bio
Recruited from the Eastern Ranges, Leigh Adams joined North Melbourne via the 2007 Rookie Draft and quickly developed a reputation as one of the bravest players to pull on the blue and white stripes. A small forward who eventually transitioned into the midfield, he played with a fearless, low-to-the-ground style that often saw him burrowing into packs to win contested possession. While not a flashy superstar, 'Patch' was a vital cog in the Kangaroos' structure, prized by his coaches for his clean hands, goal sense, and relentless pressure acts.
Adams' uncompromising attack on the ball eventually took a severe toll on his body, leading to a career plagued by injuries. He became synonymous with the protective helmet he wore in later years, but a series of concussions ultimately forced his premature retirement midway through the 2015 season at the age of 27. Despite falling short of the longevity his talent deserved, he left the field highly respected for his toughness and club-first attitude, later transitioning seamlessly into coaching roles within the North Melbourne system.
