Bio
Recruited as a mature-age prospect from VFA club Sunshine, Leigh Crawford arrived at Kardinia Park in 1974 ready to bolster the Cats' big-man stocks. Standing at a towering 199cm—a massive height for the era—Crawford was deployed primarily as a ruckman to provide support for club legend Sam Newman. Despite making his debut at 28 years of age, he proved to be a durable selection, missing very few matches across his two seasons at the top level. While he was never a high-production ball winner or a major goal-kicking threat, his imposing frame offered vital relief in the ruck contests before he departed the VFL scene at the conclusion of the 1975 season.
