Recruited from the Melbourne High School Old Boys (MHSOB), Len Boyd-Gerny was a prolific amateur forward who made a brief but memorable cameo in the VFL. He broke into the St Kilda side midway through the 1938 season, booting two goals across two senior appearances before opting to return to his former club. While his league career was short-lived, his scoring ability was unquestionable; shortly after leaving the Saints, he famously kicked 19 goals in a single match for MHSOB. Boyd-Gerny remained a cherished figure at St Kilda long after his playing days, holding the distinction of being the club's oldest living former player prior to his passing in 2011.
