Bio
Recruited from local club Seddon after his family moved from Ballarat, Len Kent began his VFL career with a slice of history, making his senior debut in Round 1, 1951 alongside fellow debutant and future club immortal Ted Whitten. While Whitten went on to define the era, Kent proved a capable key position player in his own right, initially making his mark as a forward who could hit the scoreboard. Standing 185cm, he played 24 games over three seasons for the Bulldogs before crossing to VFA powerhouse Williamstown midway through 1953. It was in the VFA that Kent truly cemented his legacy, transforming into a formidable centre-half back nicknamed "The Silent Assassin" for his quiet but ruthless efficiency. He became a defensive pillar during a golden era for the Seagulls, playing in four premiership sides and eventually earning selection in the Williamstown Team of the Century.
