Stats
Bio
Recruited from Warrnambool in the strong Western District leagues, Len McConnell was a diminutive footballer who made his mark at North Melbourne during the late 1920s. Standing just 168cm, McConnell was a classic rover and small forward of his era, relying on agility and ground-level skills to impact the contest. He broke into the senior side for the opening round of the 1928 season and became a consistent contributor in a struggling lineup, missing just two matches and booting five goals for the year. Despite establishing himself as a regular starter, his VFL career was confined to that single season before he eventually returned to country Victoria. McConnell later served his country as an instructor of recruits for the Australian Army during the Second World War.
