Stats
Bio
Recruited from North Ballarat, Len Mitchell was a powerfully built key position player who spent a single season at Punt Road. Standing 185cm and weighing nearly 100kg, he offered a formidable physical presence and was utilised primarily as a full-forward after early stints as a ruck-rover. He broke into the senior side for the opening round of the 1957 season, playing six consecutive matches before losing his place in the lineup. While he only managed a solitary goal in senior company, his scoring power was evident at the lower level, where he topped the Richmond reserves goalkicking tally that same year. Mitchell departed the VFL after just one season to embark on a prolific journeyman career in country football, eventually playing for or coaching 13 different clubs over a 26-year period.
