Bio
A legendary figure in Tasmanian football history, Len "Apples" Pye was a dynamic ruckman and key forward recruited to Fitzroy after a standout performance for his state at the 1933 National Carnival. He made an immediate impact at the Brunswick Street Oval, topping the club’s goalkicking in his debut 1934 season with 39 majors, including a dominant eight-goal haul against North Melbourne. Despite standing 183cm—a considerable height for the era—he possessed exceptional all-round skills that allowed him to double as a prolific scoring threat while resting forward. His VFL tenure was fleeting; after managing just a single senior appearance in 1935, Pye returned to North Hobart where he resumed a decorated career that would eventually see him elevated to Legend status in the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
