Recruited from the nearby Auburn Football Club, Len Woolf was a mature-age addition to the Hawthorn list who made his debut in the opening round of the 1947 season. At 180cm, Woolf was a versatile utility capable of playing across the flanks, offering the Hawks a readymade option during the club’s difficult immediate post-war rebuilding phase. He managed to hold his place in the senior side for the first half of his debut year but struggled to cement a permanent role, adding just four goals across his 16 career appearances. His brief tenure at Glenferrie Oval concluded after the 1948 season, after which he eventually relocated to Queensland, passing away in Brisbane at the age of 92.
