Bio
Originally from Warracknabeal and recruited via Carlton District, Leo O'Connor played a brief but promising stint as a half-forward for Essendon. His VFL career was cut short after just 10 games when employment opportunities took him north to Queensland in 1911, where he eventually became a titan of the local leagues. After a hiatus due to World War I, O'Connor returned to captain both the Valleys Football Club and the Queensland representative side, establishing himself as a dominant key position utility. His sporting legacy extends far beyond his modest VFL tally, as he later served as QAFL president and holds the unique distinction of being the first person to captain Queensland in both Australian football and Sheffield Shield cricket.
