Bio
Recruited from coastal club Barwon Heads as a mature-age prospect, Leo O'Halloran joined Geelong just as the club was entering a golden era under Reg Hickey. A tall follower and forward standing 189cm, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in the formidable senior lineup that claimed back-to-back premierships in 1951 and 1952, often finding himself stuck behind established stars. Despite missing out on senior finals glory, O'Halloran was a dominant leader at the lower level, captaining the reserves and winning the Gardiner Medal as the VFL reserves' best and fairest in 1952. He transferred to South Melbourne for the 1953 season in search of greater opportunities, where he was utilised as an oversized rover before retiring from VFL football.
