Teams

Recruited directly from Geelong High School, Leo Tasker entered the VFL as a 16-year-old schoolboy, answering the call for players during the severe manpower shortages of the First World War. He debuted for the Pivotonians in 1917, establishing himself as one of the club's youngest-ever players, but crossed to Carlton the following season where he found greater continuity as a goal-kicking forward. Tasker proved effective inside 50 for the Blues, booting 13 goals in 15 games at Princes Park while operating primarily as a dangerous half-forward or pocket option. Despite showing genuine promise as a teenager, his time at the top level was a casualty of the post-war normalisation; as established veterans returned from military service in 1919 to reclaim their spots, the opportunities for wartime recruits dried up, bringing Tasker's VFL career to a premature close at just 19 years of age.
