Bio
Recruited from the local ranks of North Melbourne CYMS, Leo Tyrrell was a strongly built utility who earned his VFL debut in 1933 as a late replacement for injured club champion Syd Barker. Capable of playing on a half-forward flank or the wing, he was known as a determined runner, yet he struggled to command a regular position in the Shinboners' senior side, managing just 22 games across seven stop-start seasons at Arden Street. Tyrrell was cleared to Collingwood in mid-1940, but he added only two games to his tally in black and white before his football career was effectively curtailed by his service in the RAAF during the Second World War.
