Stats
Bio
Les Amery was a diminutive rover and wingman who arrived at Punt Road with a formidable reputation in local football. After dominating for Melton with three consecutive club champion awards, he returned to the metropolitan area to lead Richmond Districts to a premiership, sweeping the club and competition best and fairest awards in 1955. This stellar form earned him a call-up to the Richmond senior list in 1956, where he debuted in Round 5 against Essendon. Despite his prolific ball-winning ability at lower levels, Amery found it difficult to secure a permanent spot in the Tigers' lineup, managing just four senior games and two goals in his solitary VFL season. He eventually departed for the VFA to play with Camberwell, but found his greatest success later in his career in the SANFL, where he became a dangerous goal-kicking rover for Norwood, booting over 70 goals across two seasons.
