Bio
A solidly built local recruit standing over six feet tall—a significant height for the era—Batty was plucked from East Geelong and immediately established himself as a key pillar in the Pivotonians' lineup. He enjoyed a remarkably consistent debut season in 1909, missing just one match and holding down a defensive post where his size and strength were vital assets. Despite that promising start, his career took a sharp turn when he crossed to Carlton the following year. Joining a powerhouse Blues squad that was in the midst of a premiership window, Batty found opportunities scarce in the star-studded 22 and managed just a single senior appearance in navy blue before his brief VFL career came to a close.
