Bio
Recruited from Warrnambool, Les Begley established himself as a capable centreman for Essendon in the late 1930s. He became a consistent contributor in the midfield who could drift forward and convert, booting 32 goals across his 50 games. His promising career was abruptly ended by the Second World War, where he served as a Lieutenant, meaning he missed out on the club's subsequent premiership success in the 1940s.
