Bio
Recruited from local side Windsor, Les Boyd was a classy forward who made an immediate impression at St Kilda by finishing second in the club's goalkicking during his debut season. His development was interrupted when the Saints went into recess during the Great War, but he returned in 1918 to spearhead the attack and top the club's goalkicking list. Boyd transferred to Melbourne in 1920, where he spent three seasons as a rotational forward without quite capturing his dominant form from the Junction Oval. He eventually departed for the VFA, carving out a significant post-VFL legacy as a prolific goal-kicker and captain-coach for Sandringham.
