Bio
Arriving at Fitzroy as a mature-age recruit with a decorated résumé in South Australia, Les Bryant was a mobile follower who made an immediate impact in the VFL. A vice-captain of Norwood's 1922 premiership side, he moved to Melbourne to be closer to his mother and instantly slotted into the Maroons' lineup for their 1923 campaign. Standing 182cm, Bryant was considered a brilliant aerialist who was equally proficient at ground level, possessing the rare speed for a big man that saw him compete in the Stawell Gift. His athleticism allowed him to achieve the unique feat of representing Victoria in his debut VFL season after representing South Australia the previous year, and he played a key role in Fitzroy's run to the 1923 Grand Final. After two seasons and 35 games at Brunswick Street, he departed the league in 1925 to continue his career with Benalla in the Ovens & Murray Football League.
