Bio
A prolific spearhead during Footscray's dominant era in the VFA, Les Chapple transitioned to the VFL side in 1926, a year after the club's admission to the elite competition. He immediately established himself as a potent focal point in attack, leading the Tricolours' goalkicking in consecutive seasons (1926 and 1927) with his ability to find the big sticks consistently. Despite his VFL career being limited to just three seasons, Chapple's strike rate was formidable, as he averaged more than 2.5 goals per game and provided a reliable avenue to goal for the formative franchise. He remains a significant figure in the Bulldogs' history as a key bridge between their championship success in the association and their early years establishing a foothold in the top tier.
