Bio
A midfielder who toiled in the Melbourne Seconds before finally earning his opportunity late in the 1948 season, Les Crawley’s career is defined by a tantalising "what if." After breaking into the senior side in Round 17, he held his spot for the final three weeks of the home-and-away campaign and played in the Second Semi-Final loss to Essendon. However, the selectors swung the axe following that defeat, and Crawley was omitted for the Preliminary Final, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as the Demons went on to draw the Grand Final and win the Replay. He remained on the list into 1949 but never added to his four senior games, eventually crossing to Prahran in the VFA.
