Bio
A police officer by trade who famously rode his motorbike to training, Les "Bing" Crosbie arrived at North Melbourne from VFA club Northcote during the roster tumult of the Second World War. After a brief stint training with Richmond, he signed with the Shinboners in 1941 to help cover the loss of regular players to military service. Despite standing just 184cm—relatively short for a ruckman even in that era—he used his imposing 93kg frame to physically dominate stoppages and shield his smaller teammates. Crosbie remained a durable first-choice follower throughout the war years, shouldering the ruck load for four consistent seasons before concluding his VFL career in 1944.
