Bio
Recruited from Warburton, Les Flintoff served a brief apprenticeship as a half-forward at Tigerland in the early 1950s. Unable to cement a regular starting spot in the senior side, he frequently filled the role of 19th or 20th man before departing to captain-coach Ganmain in the Riverina. While his on-field tenure was modest, Flintoff’s legacy at Punt Road is monumental; he returned in the 1960s as a tenacious recruiting officer, personally securing the signatures of country recruits who would form the backbone of the club’s golden dynasty under Tom Hafey. A Richmond Life Member, he is also celebrated as the father of 1988 Olympic gold medallist Debbie Flintoff-King.
