Bio
Born and bred in the Pivot city, Les Gell was a local forward who earned a call-up to the Geelong senior side during the 1908 VFL season. He made his debut in the opening round against Essendon, joining a lineup that was battling through a difficult era for the club. Gell proved to be a handy avenue to goal during his brief tenure, booting five majors across just six senior appearances—a promising strike rate that suggested he was comfortable at the level. However, his time in the VFL was fleeting, and he did not feature for the club beyond that solitary season, eventually passing away in his hometown in 1938 at the age of 51.
