Bio
Recruited from Glenhuntly, Les Gray was a diminutive wingman whose VFL career was defined by the Second World War era. Standing just 169cm, he broke into the St Kilda side for a solitary debut game in 1941 before becoming a more regular contributor during the astute roster instability of the mid-war years. He played the bulk of his football in 1942 and 1943, providing valuable speed and service to the Saints while many senior stars were unavailable. Gray found opportunities harder to come by as the competition normalised, managing just six games in 1944 and five in 1945, before making a final single appearance in 1946 to close out his tenure at the Junction Oval.
