Bio
Originally signed as a teenager from Ballarat in 1963, Les Harrison was a 193cm ruckman who had to bide his time before finally breaking into the Melbourne lineup. After failing to make the final list during the 1965 pre-season, the towering big man showed significant persistence by returning for another attempt in 1966, eventually earning his senior debut in Round 3 against Richmond at the MCG. Harrison held his spot for three consecutive weeks, using his height—substantial for the era—to compete in the air while averaging nearly eight kicks a game. Following his brief stint at the top level, which concluded with a goal in his final match against Carlton, he returned to country football to play for Ballarat and later Shepparton, though he did return to the Demons for one final, unsuccessful pre-season campaign in 1969.
