Stats
Bio
Recruited from Foster in South Gippsland, Les Jones was a physically imposing recruit who arrived at Hawthorn during the club's challenging formative years in the VFL. Standing 183cm and weighing 90kg, he possessed a heavy frame that made him one of the sturdier players on the list, well-suited to the physical demands of key position play in an era of lighter footballers. He broke into the senior side in Round 3 of the 1929 season and held his place for five consecutive matches, featuring for the "Mayblooms" during a difficult winless streak. Jones did not feature again after Round 7, ending his brief tenure at Glenferrie Oval as one of the many country footballers tried and tested as Hawthorn attempted to build a competitive list.
