Bio
A Tatura native who arrived at St Kilda via VFA club Brunswick, Les Maskell was a solid utility player whose VFL career was punctuated by a dominant season in the bush. After breaking into the Saints' lineup in 1938, he surprisingly returned to the Goulburn Valley for the 1939 season, where he finished runner-up in the Morrison Medal as the league's second-best and fairest player. St Kilda recalled him to the Junction Oval for the 1940 season, but his top-level tenure remained brief, concluding his service with just 15 games before departing the VFL scene at age 23.
